5 simple steps to zen

Supporting you - Taking a moment for yourself

Conversations and connections are more important now more than ever. Whilst our mission is to get the nation talking and engaging with each other during these times, we’re conscious some people live alone, and others may live in a house full of people but still find themselves feeling isolated, scared and lonely. We thought it would be useful to share this exercise which helps you refocus and calm your mind. It can be done anywhere at any time.

5. Note FIVE things you see around you. It could be a pen, a spot on the ceiling, anything in your surroundings.

4: Note FOUR things you can touch or feel around you. It could be your hair, a pillow, a breeze  or the ground under your feet.

3: Note THREE things you can hear. This could be an external sound. If you can hear your belly rumbling that counts. Focus on things you can hear outside or your body.

2: Note TWO things you can smell. Maybe you are in your house and smell food or cleaning products or in your bedroom and smell your pillow. You may be outside and smell nature.

1: Note ONE thing you can taste. What does the inside of your mouth taste like - gum, pepsi, or the sandwich from lunch.
